Tariffs alone are not going make the US a producer of competitive goods!
Our infrastructure is crumbling and needs to updated.
Too many of us want to make money without working hard.
What do we make? Brand name goods made elsewhere, Software (deliberately insecure for NSA), Boeing planes that now don't have a good reputation. The only good example I can think of is Tesla vehicles.
No need to sound like a doomer. Most of the cool stuff manufactured today in China was designed and engineered here anyway. It'll happen fast: our country's factory owners have been hamstrung for years, this'll be like taking the shackles off.
I hope you are right. I am still concerned that we wasted the profits of the last decades on pointless wars instead of building infrastructure.
It appears we have wasted the profits, like every other country, on thieving politicians and population mass psyops. And unlike other countries, on pharma pills.
But any factory that survived here, survived by being smarter, not by being corrupt like in China. Those smarts will pay off.
