Over The Last 80 Years, We Have Witnessed The Dismantling Of Our Society's Christian Foundation - Harbinger's Daily
Our society has continued to slouch toward Gomorrah. Let me take a moment to emphasize to you how serious the decay of our society has become. I think this is essential because we have become insensitive to it. Only a person my age (86) can appreciate how ...
Glad you're finally noticing. And what tribe of people would be actively working toward that?
To be fair. That was because most of what we now consider child abuse was par for the course expectation of everyday life. And there was a shitload of stuff that hid underneath the surface. A large portion of the problems we have now. Always existed. The only difference is they dropped the pretense of hiding them as there’s now no social stigma or legal repercussions.
And if you actually read Voltaire, and some of the other enlightenment thinkers. Who put down the ideas that would eventually grow into the United States. Along with historical letters they penned to each other and friends. None of this is currently unexpected. Because many of them never conceived of a limit, or guardrails to their ideas of “Freedom and Liberty” beyond varying notions of not intentionally harming others. And even then that could be flexible. Especially when it comes to more modern thinkers. As in modern day the varied opinions and ideas have congealed into general vague notions of rights and freedoms.
When several of them never actually believed in Freedom and Liberty for everyone. In fact quite a few of them disagreed vehemently on what that actually constituted and had very dim views of the intelligence of the general population. In fact They seemed to primarily have been relying on culture and the reasoning and leadership of the rising intellectual and industrialist class to restrain the worst impulses and impose limits. While they had simultaneously crippled the institutions and ideas that had previously served as societal guardrails. In fact several of them wrote specifically and ironically of Viewing Government as a necessary evil and an inconvenience that should be abolished as soon practicable. When that necessary evil was the glue that would allow their ideas to be functional.
What we’re suffering from right now is more or less we’re now trying to pump the brakes and put limitations on societal, philosophical and social ideas that weren’t really conceived of as having limits or guardrails initially.
Because you could convincingly make the argument that many facets of life that underpin the loose tapestry of society and civilization. Responsibility and Duty to ones family, ones God, a Nation or some other unchosen bond or happenstance of birth. Is in of itself anathema to the ideas of liberty and freedom. And is then something a nation or person should strive to free themselves from.
In essence. Several Millennia of human instinct and social/Societal organization is colliding with the comparatively newer idea of the atomitized individual. Who is free of any duty or obligation to anything or anyone outside himself and those he chooses to support for as long as he desires to do so.
All in all a failed Utopian ideal of the perfectibility of man. Not seeing man has he is. But rather what they would wish he’d be.
Now the question is what will emerge. Because eventually one or the other will by necessity need to give way. Leaving the victor in the wars of ideas permanently changed.
"Not seeing man as he is. But rather what they would wish he’d be."
...perception is two-thirds reality...
Good summary Fren.
We will be lost and scattered if we sway from our strong roots.
"We will be lost and scattered if we sway from our strong roots."
“America's coasting downhill on a godless ancestry, and God pity America when we hit the bottom of the hill.”
Dr. J. Gresham Machen
OK. This is serious. The question is How do we fix it?
Yet segregation was still a thing. The author never once mentions it.
