Unpopular question. But engineers deal with facts, not feelings
The country needs money to function. We have military, senior citizens, infrastructure, and welfare dependencies, education and growth to plan.
Will tariffs alone pay for this? Cutting fraud and waste is a good first step. Paying off $36T isn’t optional. I would love to see $1T in the bank before we cut all taxes so we NEVER wind up as f@cked as we are now
Income tax is thievery, and is thus an act of war. If a person doesn't comply with paying taxes, how is it enforced? By either more thievery, forced this time, incarceration, often for a very long time, and/or with death. These are all acts of war from the government against the people.
But engineers deal with facts, not feelings
I find that more often than not "facts" are opinions masquerading as "facts." A person usually considers and/or states only a small number of the required actual relevant facts. With insufficient information they thus come to false conclusions which they then use to state their opinion (false argument). "Facts" are not the end of a reasonable discussion, but the beginning. Unless of course a fact is so powerful (contains all the required information) that it stands on its own.
One such full formed conclusion is the fact that this type of taxation is thievery. (Here I am talking specifically about income tax, or any tax that takes from a person what they already own.) That fact requires either we live as subjects (slaves) or fight back, in which case we will probably die. That SINGLE FACT, all by itself says that any opinion that supports these types of taxes also opines waging war on the citizens just for being alive.
That means that whatever needs to be done, it can't be done by that method except through war. That by itself is enough against that opinion, but there's more. A LOT more. Consider a couple of the things our current income tax (an act of war) pays for.
What about military? Well, there's a huge problem there. We don't actually have any enemies. All the different countries on the planet are controlled by the same entity. We fight each other because of fraud. It's all fakery. A flim/flam con. So how much would the military really cost if we had no enemies (except the Cabal, a few people)? How much would it cost if we had no fraud in new equipment; if we had a real Free Market? I think the costs would be a tiny fraction of what we currently pay.
How about Welfare? First, our economy, institutions, and infrastructure have been designed by the Cabal specifically to disadvantage the people, making it impossible for people to take care of themselves. The need for welfare is by design. That needs to be addressed. But even with our current system, the programs themselves are full of fraud. If not for all the fraud, I suggest our current welfare programs would be a fraction of what we currently pay.
We could also do what people have always done in a community. We could give to people who need help. This is called charity. We do have charitable organizations designed to help people. Unfortunately, they too are full of fraud. Indeed, they are COMPLETELY fraudulent.
I've only gone over a couple of the problems on your list. I could continue, but I suggest it's not necessary. ALL OF OUR INCOME TAX PAYS FOR FRAUD.
So how can the government pay for things? By selling something. Tariffs are perfectly reasonable, but so are internal sales taxes. That is what we do with the gas tax. The gas tax pays for more than enough money to pay for transportation infrastructure. If we didn't have a money laundering government, the taxes would probably would be a fraction of what we currently pay.
In short, your opinion is that our government should wage war on its citizens and steal the resources from the citizens to give them to the Cabal.
Assuming 200M taxpayers, paying off $36T means we all owe $180k. While stopping the debt from increasing and building a governmental nest egg is a great first step, paying it off now would crash the economy.

In my opinion you should change your opinion.
