Just re-watched it recently. It is actually quite good. Action is spectacular and storyline is pretty good as well. Clearly non-woke, major-boner Patriotic. The mission is a little bit insane, but they make it credible and exciting. Love the F-14 throwback action.
Interesting symbolism with the callsigns: HANGMAN character actually blew up the CCP 5th Gen fighter to prevent him from getting MAVERICK "all American hero" that could be representing the 'American Constitutional Republic' that the CCP is literally trying to destroy through infiltration. A fair amount of symbolism in this movie. It was clearly done by whitehats, imo, as part of the Great Awakening. Note other callsigns such as PAYBACK AND PHOENIX as well. PAYBACK is self explanatory. A PHOENIX rises from the ashes. A ROOSTER crows in the morning, like Reagan's "Morning in America".
