My brother in law married (in his 50’s at the time and never before married) recently divorced a Chinese National who flew back and forth every 4 or 5 months to China to teach at a University there. She even wrote a book in her field. She was extremely bright. He’s a nice gullible guy, but as dumb as a rock. No way was she not a part of the Communist party. Rest of the family suspected it but my brother in law kept saying no.
They weren’t married that long but long enough for her to get a green card for herself and her son from a previous marriage in China.
At one point she got her Realtors license and was selling homes to Chinese nationals. And he helped out with it and was landlord for some of them. Went by the wayside after COVID and also when she asked for the divorce
When they divorced she took my brother in law for all he had. She got the house. But he stupidly signed something to allow it when they got married. At one point before they got married he owned a townhouse which they put into their home. He lost it all.
At least she called us after he ended up in the ICU from a bad sepsis infection after they were divorced. I suspect she still feels something for him at the very least. She kept visiting him in the hospital
She has since retired from her job in China and is living in the house her in the USA with her son and the dogs she also got.
