But I'm not mocking you...I (unfortunately) found out what the alien facehugger is at the tender age of 13 back in 1979 when "Alien" first released in theaters, and I talked my 23-year old sister into taking me to that R-rated movie. Big mistake. HUGE. ;)
So, I'm TOTALLY with you. I was horrified/grossed out/nearly sworn off of rated-R movies after seeing the first movie....but James Cameron TOTALLY kicked ass in making the RARE sequel that EQUALS (and arguably surpasses!) the original!!! The first movie is basically a haunted-house-movie-in-space...the sequel checks ALL the boxes, action, emotional investment, surprises, chills, etc!
Eleanor Ripley was a fantastic female lead. Sigorney Weaver played her extremely well. It's a hell of a lot better than the woke bullshit of today, that's why the female Ghostbusters movie bombed so hard.

I first saw Aliens, the sequel to Alien, before seeing Alien, and I gotta say, it was scary as hell but also totally bad ass.

Yeah, I remembered it when I saw the Alien pictures , it had been so long. It makes sense for the meme though which was quite jarring upon first view.
