i know that's creepy but they wear those during solemn occasions so people are not looking at them but are paying attention to, for example, the pope's passing. To say this is based on Matthew 6:16 which is a verse about not showing a miserable face during fasting makes no sense because 6:18 tells you to show your face as though you are not fasting so what they are doing goes against what is being taught. That's my understanding. Anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
