Before jumping to conclusions, it's good to consider a variety of possibilities.
See what looks like an anomaly? Consider a variety of possible explanations, then cross-referencing and analysis, and map the one that seems most likely on to other surrounding factors.
Realize that there is so little we can actually ever know. What we CAN do is control the way we think about the information coming in.
