Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evolving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Rules For the rest of the Site also accessible on the sidebar.

C. H. Spurgeon's Evening Reading (April 26th)
"Blessed is he that watcheth." — Revelation 16:15
"We die daily," said the apostle. This was the life of the early Christians; they went everywhere with their lives in their hands. We are not in this day called to pass through the same fearful persecutions: if we were, the Lord would give us grace to bear the test; but the tests of Christian life, at the present moment, though outwardly not so terrible, are yet more likely to overcome us than even those of the fiery age. We have to bear the sneer of the world-that is little; its blandishments, its soft words, its oily speeches, its fawning, its hypocrisy, are far worse. Our danger is lest we grow rich and become proud, lest we give ourselves up to the fashions of this present evil world, and lose our faith. Or if wealth be not the trial, worldly care is quite as mischievous. If we cannot be torn in pieces by the roaring lion, if we may be hugged to death by the bear, the devil little cares which it is, so long as he destroys our love to Christ, and our confidence in Him. I fear me that the Christian church is far more likely to lose her integrity in these soft and silken days than in those rougher times. We must be awake now, for we traverse the enchanted ground, and are most likely to fall asleep to our own undoing, unless our faith in Jesus be a reality, and our love to Jesus a vehement flame. Many in these days of easy profession are likely to prove tares, and not wheat; hypocrites with fair masks on their faces, but not the true-born children of the living God. Christian, do not think that these are times in which you can dispense with watchfulness or with holy ardour; you need these things more than ever, and may God the eternal Spirit display His omnipotence in you, that you may be able to say, in all these softer things, as well as in the rougher, "We are more than conquerors through Him that loved us."
Blake Shelton - Jesus Got a Tight Grip
I appreciate your daily post. I’ve gotta comment on this one. First let me say I haven’t heard the song, I usually don’t listen to him. Nothing against his talent, he’s very talented and I normally really like his songs. Given the fact of who is wife is maybe the song should be The devil got a tight grip I’m slightly educated in history from Okie, Nashville good ole boy to Hollywood. I’ve followed his ex-wife since the beginning and seen her nine times. I don’t claim to know what goes on behind closed doors with anyone especially celebrities. It’s just odd he went to Hollywood and was a judge on The Voice. Now looking when I hear one of Miranda Lambert’s (ex-wife) old songs she wrote when they were together I often wonder about him. I’ve seen her up close in the pit and you see all the emotions. Just after the divorce she was a wreck. Crying through out the concert. I’d like to say this is just my opinion. If he’s in the grip of Hollywood he’s most certainly not the only one. He wouldn’t be the first to sing about God/Jesus and be worshipping the devil. I just find it ironic he would sing a song like this. Hopefully he’s truly a believer. I’ll listen to the song. Thanks for sharing.
Just wishing y'all a happy Sunday morning! Grateful for y'all! : )
Wishing you a great evening and week.
I'm grateful for all of my family here also! 🙏🤍
It’s joyous to see the tides turning for once. I’m on my second or third cup today, I don’t remember. I’ve never been a big coffee drinker unless I was very cold. My grandma drank it black from sun up to bedtime. Since switching to “dirty” carnivore drinking coffee helps when I’m craving chocolate or sweets. I put butter in it & it’s got a hint of salt. I’m weak I’ve gotta have creamer. Enjoy your ☕️
I bet most people use creamer.
Are you kidding, I drink Coffee milk! 😸 It's the only way they would let me drink it as a child and now it's my favorite way. I can drink covfefe without sugar but I gotta have my cream!
That’s funny 😆 I had coffee every Sunday morning at my grandparents house. I basically had coffee (can evaporated) milk with lots of sugar. Now I put 1/4 stick butter & Chobani Coffee Creamer, sweet cream flavor. It’s cost more but it doesn’t have the bad junk other than natural flavors. I normally avoid natural flavors.
I'm going to try that moody...thanks!
