If we take the possibility of Canada joining the US seriously, I can see them splitting into maybe three or four states plus a handful of territories. With Quebec for example, the language alone would be a huge barrier for integration. They’d end up like Puerto Rico.

I don't know what the percentage is, but I think a fair number of them are bi-lingual.
