FWIW, there’s a centuries old tradition (not to be confused with Christ’s oral teaching Tradition), that Pilate repented of his role in Jesus’ trial, and spent the rest of his life in prayer and penance.
In fact, mount Pilatus, in Switzerland, is named after Pilate, and legend has it he made his way to that region of Switzerland, and lived out his life there, in prayer and supplication. No idea if it’s true, but Catholics in that area have no issues with it possibly being true.
