Lack of communication didn't help either. This one should have been flagged as dangerous, police called before putting her in the ambulance and restrained (strapped in) after she was, most likely, tased by the cop and that info related to the receiving hospital. I'm not sure paramedics, like doctors, would be predisposed to zapping a violent patient, but maybe if we have any anons with experience in this arena they could weigh in.
I thought I'd heard (rumors?) that Reagan closed many of the asylums, will have to check on that. (See edit, below). I'm under the impression, though I might be wrong, that a larger number of mentally ill individuals are violent than in past years. It seems people are "snapping" at the slightest (imaginary/perceived or real) provocation.
As to your point about (medical) drugs, they're giving them to children at young ages and it's devastating them afaict. Then the fentanyl and whatever else those on the slippery slope to addiction are using. We have SO much to fix in this country. May God give us all strength to get through this with as few people lost as is possible.
.
Edit -- Jimmy Carter, in 1980, signed in the Mental Health Systems Act to help fund asylums. It was the demonrats, who controlled both Houses at the time of the repeal, who repealed the act just one year later during President Ronald Reagan's term. PRR did sign this repeal as it was, according to the demonrats, the will of their constituents.
You’re spot on. Thank you for the dig on where the asylums went. We need God’s help because, as you said, we have so much to fix. It all starts with coming back to our Lord, repenting and He will heal our land. We have a lot of work to do.
