Ok, you win. I forgot about those, probably because I don't spend as much time in space as a killer space robot. Near the ground they seem to be pumping the light links to the kira bots through a fiber line to avoid detection and jamming. But I don't actually know if a laser is required to go the distance. And really, why does it matter? I can't do anything about it.
It would help if you would explain what "kira bots" are. I know that some tactical drones unspool a great length of fiber optic line in order to be connected to their launch point for flight control.
If "go the distance" means communicate with a satellite, the answer is "no." But for reasons of data rate and security, the answer is "yes." But I'm not the one making the decisions.
Kira bot is my newly coined name for cheap military bots or drones made quickly from COTS parts and open source software. Kira is Killer in Manga Jinglish. Where are you going with this? GAW makes it difficult to track a conversation deeper than like 5 or 6 comments.
See that's the thing. Cyber-sec for kira bots is probably a top topic for a killer space robot, but for me it feels like work. Cyber is hard for humans.
I'd rather talk about the digital soccer ball from Putin. Does passing the ball to the DOJ signify DECLAS? It's in Pam's COURTS now?

I agree about the obscurity of the thread. I think we were having a general discussion of cybersecurity for killer robots from outer space.
