I see your point, WinstonO1984 -- things have gotten almost unbelievably out-of-hand in the Blue states -- but they clearly DID think of the possibility that one or more States would become seriously corrupt, unConstitutionally limiting their citizens' Freedom, and would thus require Federal intervention to return Freedom to the citizens of the corrupt State or States involved.

Article IV, Section 4

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

They only way to "GUARANTEE" that is to be willing to, at the extreme and where necessary, use military force to remove the corrupt members of the State's legislature and bureaucracy. Otherwise, the first part of Section 4 is meaningless.

Same for the rest of Section 4, about Invasion and domestic Violence, for that matter.
