I have sympathy for the Catholic churches in Nazi Germany. I mean, they're stuck in Nazi land. In what fantasy scenario could the church have preserved its integrity and survived? Any clergy who didn't comply would've been shot and replaced by a loyal Nazi, so how can the church be faulted? Plus, unlike the communists, Nazis didn't burn churches.
Yes, the Nazis persecuted the Catholic Church in territories they occupied and annexed, including systematically closing and destroying churches.Β While the actions were most severe in areas like Poland, where thousands of churches and monasteries were shut down, the Nazis also targeted church leaders and clergy, with many being arrested, exiled, or murdered.Β
lol, uhh yes they did.
