Part of the problem is that we were subsidizing socialist run (Europe, China, others ) countries that would never be able to afford anything (practically) if we were not funding it. Trump's statements about the free market need to be taken by all these nations run as socialist 'utopias' (that are really horrid to live in) and applied.
