I asked Grok to do a simple calculation for the resistance of two resistors connected in parallel. It failed three times to get the correct answer. I had to tell it exactly what to do and it finally got the correct answer.
The formula is R - (R1 x R2)/(R1 + R2). It's not complicated.
People really need to understand that AI is basically gonna be a real smooth talker, who can convince anyone on anything, but doesn’t necessarily know what it’s talking about.
“Large Language Model” is gonna be an important concept.
When having an AI do calculations for you, be sure to insist that it shows it’s work so that it can be validated.
