I have seen example after example of self-promoting posts exploiting the good folks fighting for the Great Awakening, for personal spiritual gain and them being STICKIED by mods.
Personally, it fatigues me - especially knowing the prayers need to be with the kids and the overall movement the most but more than anything, the ppl posting them have contributed fuck all to any discussion to do with Q and suffer main-character syndrome.
I point to the boards creation and existence, indeed the very paragraph in the sidebar:
We are researchers who deal in open-source information, reasoned argument, and dank memes. We do battle in the sphere of ideas and ideas only. We neither need nor condone the use of force in our work here. WE ARE THE PUBLIC FACE OF Q. OUR MISSION IS TO RED-PILL NORMIES.
This is a pro-Q community. Please read and respect our rules below before contributing.
I also point to the rule:
No PAYtriots/No Self Promotion: Linking or promoting merchandise, fundraising, or spamming personal websites, blogs, or channels is not permitted. Do not attempt to profit from Q or advertise for those who do. Peace is the prize. We do it for free.
I argue these posters are profiting from Q. I suggest including "No PRAYtriot posts" to that rule too. Upvote if you agree, otherwise share your thoughts.
- Edit: at the very least, mods do NOT sticky these posts.
Being a smaller community than PDW has its advantages. And, because this place is moderated more heavily, it's very likely that the person that is posting is someone you might know online or at least have talked with previously (I'd likely not a "It's two more weeks, worded letter!" dumbass.
Now, obviously, this isn't Facebook, But GAW has to become a special community to many of us and mods will remove favorite requests for pets, or someone just going in for routine surgery, but, although we really appreciate the very kind and high effort way you presented this topic, we will probably continue monitoring and monitoring the way we have on this particular topic.
As for prayer request folks, prayer is one of the most private experiences and forms of communionship you can have with your creator. There is nothing wrong with having a heartfelt prayer about your request to God stay private, just between you and Him.
Before posting a prayer request online, the mods would recommend that you make sure that your post is relevant in some way to the broader Q community, and is, as always, high info, high effort, and high quality. Thank you.
I’m a Brit and not a Jesus Follower as such but the fact that there’s a God of some sort is unquestionable in my mind. I prefer to call it Source. Also Q mentioned a God and expressed prayers so I do see them as relevant.
Apart from that, I see this group as having a secondary function of our supporting each other.
So, with all due respect to the OP, I vote for keeping the prayer posts.
However, I see the posting of actual prayers in the replies as self-promotion - almost a competition. I’d prefer it if replies were limited to “done” and to relevant support advice or stories.
Just my opinion fwiw.
Done
We're worldwide and historical. Size of community is not relevant, nor is any one's personal relationship with God.
Please direct them to the daily discussion thread and do NOT sticky them. Appreciate and understand the mission. This movement is not about any one person.
Don't grief the mods!
"relevant in some way to the broader Q community," Very good. That criteria is the difference between prayer requests being relevant or being a form of forum sliding.
