Back then healing medicine was herbal. It seems pharmakeia includes that as well as poisons. The church cast herbal knowledge as witchcraft and modern medicine does the equivalent.
I don't see what is wrong with using natural remedies as long as you're not getting into ritualistic stuff and witch craft.
