Again, the mission of the Nike Hercules missiles goes unacknowledged. We did so much to keep this great nation safe during the Cold War, and many people don't even know it. When will we get our overdue recognition?

During the Cold War around most of the large cities in the US there were missile sites that were prepared to take out any enemy aircraft. Most of them had some missiles that had nuclear warheads. We were a major deterrent and a large part of keeping the peace during the cold war. Due to the nature of what they were, many people that lived around them didn't know they were there.

Were they part of the US Army division? That's who they are featuring in this military parade.
We wore Army uniforms. I heard we were half Army, half Air Force, and anything the Pentagon wanted to throw in. lol
If they had one on a trailer that looked good,I bet they would have displayed it.
My dad was in a 90mm anti aircraft unit,I didn't see any of them either.....

There are many near where I went to high school, never knew about them until a few years ago
When I was 18 and 19 years old, I was stationed at a site near the Everglades. I would think about all the kids my age around me, in these towns, going on dates and planning their proms. They were not concerned about their safety. For us on these sites, I say, "Job well done."
