Also, there are Buddhist shrines, or ruins of them, in Iran. But that religion was sent packing by the Arabs in the 8th and 9th centuries.

My point is - there is a patchwork of peoples living in that country, because the country, regionally, was a vital node as part of the ancient Silk Road (oh and becoming one again, China entered the chat). One cannot just decide one day that Zoroastrians must have the dominant voice. And why? Who benefits? They are a minority, after all.

Also, the claim was that the "Islamic state" may have been "installed by the CIA". That would have been one hell of a subterfuge, considering that the whole 1979 debacle was about kicking the Americans right out of the country, complete with their spooks, their punitive banking system, and their fake Embassy. That may have been a handwringing moment for the Iranians who wanted MOAR West stuff, and possibly the 'royal' faction - i.e. the people that wanted their comfy Shah back (who WAS installed by the CIA, BTW).

That is some made up bull. The previous regime, the Shah of Iran, was the Western puppet. The revolution was to oust him.
