Everyone I know Republican and Democrat is flipping shit over this. Here out West outdoor recreation whether hunting, fishing, hiking, camping etc. is a big deal it’s part of the culture here.
Senator Mike Lee says this is for housing but tons of people I follow are saying the land proposed for sale is not suitable for housing.
Others are saying this is just first step towards selling off more public lands and not necessary if they just cut spending like they said they would.
Others are saying that if the Federal Government “can’t manage it” then return it to the states which I agree with. I don’t think the Federal Government should own that much land but selling it off seems to violate state sovereignty.
Wondering what Trump’s position is on this and the justification. All I see is anti public land sale and quite frankly I am leaning on this side cause if we didn’t let everyone under the sun legal or illegal into this country housing would be cheaper.
Bill Clinton massively restricted our access to a lot of public land a long time ago. We actually have better access to land owned by the timber companies,as by law they have to allow access to get the timber farming tax breaks.
If we don't have access we may as well sell it,to people who will give us access.

Roadless rule is not the same legislation (which im glad to see that change happen). This is the sale of public lands to private entities to increase affordable housing, but the writing is so vague, it boils down to highest bidder for any blm land or national forest. Most private landowners won't let you step foot on their land, that's a big part of having private land.
Laws vary by state. In Michigan you getting a huge tax break if you allow public access.
We have a nice 40 for hunting and don't put up any signs, and have told locals they can hunt.
