Many many moons ago in a place called Bordentown NJ, council passed a law that everyone on welfare, were required to work in the community. Now working in the community meant cleaning the municipal building, the church in town, places like that. There were only if my memory serves me correctly 8 people on welfare. These 8 people did not complain as they felt they contributing to the community. ‘That lasted about a month until the federal government stepped in and said you cannot make anyone work for welfare. Keep in mind, the 8 or so people did not complain, they wanted to work. But unfortunately, the civil liberties union, stopped it.
It wouldn't be mandatory, but it would be a requirement to recieve free handouts paid for by the American taxpayer... dont want to be drug tested or would fail a drug test? That means you cant get welfare, you are free to opt out
I smoke weed, have libertarian views, and would fail a drug test, and I am 100% ok with making it a requirement to pass a drug test to get welfare.
Ideally, there is no welfare at all, but I digress.
This is a fair trade-off. Pass the drug test and maybe receive welfare-unless you are an able body person and can do work for pay, which is even better. Then you won't need the welfare. It is only supposed to be a helping hand, not a HAND-OUT FOREVER!
companies first! Make their c suite take drug tests like everyone else has to. They fail, they lose that corporate welfare queen position. gov't subsidies for the rich are waaaay bigger than any welfare theft by non rich af people. Lol. damn. this is KNOWN. research
I think they should be allowed to opt to receive a full hour in a room with an all-you-can-eat buffet of hard drugs in lieu of welfare, contingent on signing a DNR.
"Americans wouldn't do those jobs.." Kick able-bodied people off welfare. Make them hungry.
Or make them either work or do public service for 20 hours a week to earn it.
If they're working, why give them welfare? You should only be paid to sit around if you physically can do nothing else besides sit around.

TRUE
drug testing is a blatant violation of the 4th amendment

fair enough I could get on board with that
BS.
They drug test you for a job.

I have been saying thus for years.
There should be NO welfare
I think they should be allowed to opt to receive a full hour in a room with an all-you-can-eat buffet of hard drugs in lieu of welfare, contingent on signing a DNR.
imo drug testing is pretty invasive and cringe
I'm sure we could reduce people relying on welfare in other ways better, like growing the economy with better jobs and incentivizing good behavior
They should also drug test the people passing out the benefits.
