God's plan included Jesus' sacrifice for the redemption of humanity, Jesus, being fully God and fully man, chose to willingly and lovingly participate in that plan. This choice was not a mere act of compelled duty but a profound act of love and obedience. God decided the Pharisees and the Romans would be the "antagonists", but it could have just as easily been any other group of people, had that been His will.
