It is worth reflecting on the fact that one cannot be free, if one is dependent on the favor of everyone else. Socialism entails mutual dependency and, thus, everyone is not free. The opposite is independence, so that each one can be free of the other (no oppression).

People think they need to be free in order to be independent. The closer truth is that they need to be independent in order to be free.
