Three years ago I thought Russia would crush the Ukrainian military in a matter of months. Three years later it seems apparent the Russian military’s conventional warfare capabilities are not the threat NATO claimed. Logically if Russia can’t defeat a depleted, poorly trained NATO proxy, it isn’t going to sweep through Poland or Germany anytime soon.
Unless, implausibly Russia is intentionally prolonging this war, it has to flex its nuclear threat because its conventional threat is proving to not be an effective deterrent. My point isn’t to take sides, it is to say NATO should stop acting like Russia could sweep through Europe, it can’t.
