For some understanding of why human beings can behave this way:
Sociopath/psychopaths look like everybody else, but they have no empathy and therefore no conscience.
These people live solely by animal law where the strong rule over the weak. They honestly believe this is normal and they're fully entitled to behave this way, and the rest of us are just weak and stupid because we don't.
Think about it: Animals often exploit the young of their species. The males are driven to mate with the youngest females because that way, the offspring are most likely to be his. Evolution rewards this behaviour and so it continues.
This is where pedophilia comes from. There isn't much animals won't do when it comes to food and sex. Any stock breeder or zookeeper can tell you that.
But when humans lack a conscience - which only humans CAN have - you get the kinds of depraved, hideous behaviour that we are talking about here. A human brain with no conscience = an extremely destructive individual.
Normal human beings have a heart and a soul and a conscience. They care about love, creation, and building. They are the ones who create and preserve civilization, and who protect the weak - especially children.
But the psychopaths among us will continue to do these things until the rest of us finally learn to recognize them and keep ALL power and control out of their hands PERMANENTLY.
It's not just for sex or some such imprinting that may have happened when a pedophile was young. Although that can happen in some cases. Whether the pedophile can be saved or rehabilitated is extremely rare. The drive to torture and sexually abuse - even kill - children can stem from a demonic need for power, control, adrenochrome and desecration of innocence. All things most elite and not so elite sociopaths/psychopaths crave.
