Sadly, most human beings don't WANT to understand the level of evil we are dealing with.
In a thread over the weekend, a fellow pede made a statement that really stuck with me. I'm paraphrasing a bit but hopefully not too much: "It is a moral failing to not accept reality for what it is".
A lot of wisdom and eloquence in that statement. So many secrets are kept out in the open because of the moral failings of so many in this country.
We can never allow ourselves to become a member of that club, no matter what the subject. We must be truth seekers.
Tried to tell my sister some dark truths, and she told me she didn’t want to know. Couldn’t deal with it. It’s cowardice to turn from the hard truth. I would like to be a coward, but we have to have the strength to be witnesses for the innocent. It’s hard and it hurts my soul. I can only rest in Jesus and pray to God for justice.
I have a friend who is like this. It is disappointing. I want to shake him a bit and say ' Dude, you can't afford to be an ostrich..'
When I think about it, he does have a lot on his shoulders. His dad passed a couple of years ago and he is the patriarch now - not just in his immediate family, but his birth family and his wife's family (her parents are gone and her brother would like to be the man, but he is a flake). However, I try to hint that because of your responsibilities, you need to pay attention to what going on because you are going to be the person they turn to first. So far, haven't had much luck.
I can sympathize. Luckily I have another sister that woke me up fully so we have some interesting discussions, but it’s just we two. She is very well read and went down all the rabbit holes, so she keeps me updated. When things get more interesting, you’ll be able to help your friend understand. That’s what we do. Educate.
