Since Governor Abbott said that, after NOON today, any lawmakers who didn't return will be removed from office... I guess there aren't any Democrat lawmakers who left the state.
There are vacant seats available though.
Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows issued civil arrest warrants for 54 absent Democratic lawmakers who fled to Illinois and other states to break quorum and block a Republican-led congressional redistricting plan. The plan could flip five Democratic U.S. House seats. Gov. Greg Abbott threatened to remove the lawmakers from office and suggested their fundraising for fines could be felony bribery. Democrats, led by Rep. Gene Wu, defend their tactic as protecting constituents from partisan redistricting. The Texas House needs 100 of 150 members for a quorum, and the ongoing special session, started July 21, 2025, is stalled.
They are all in Illinois with Pritler. Who did the same thing with the map in 21.
The word hypocrisy comes to mind when the dems pull stunts like this.
