Let's make Carpentry Great Again! I need to go back to school to learn this, along with numerous other great works! You rock, Joys1Daughter with all your posts!
It's probably unknown to most, but making furniture was a part of being a carpenter once upon a time. Now all they do is frame houses (poorly, rough ins only), build scaffold, and at 1 carpenter per 50k population - builds cupboards.
You are correct. It’s the rare carpenter that builds high quality projects nowadays. They are hard to find and always expensive. But furniture should last generations. Check out my friend at rvp1875.com. He builds beautiful furniture by himself using entirely 1875 technology. From hand cutting the trees all the way to ancient recipe staining. He dresses like he’s on Little House on the Prairie. Rob is a great guy but too liberal in politics for my taste.

Yes! So ready to buy quality, real wood furniture again!
Kittenger, Henkel Harris, old Hickory Chair...imagine.
Yes! I'm imagining a trip to North Carolina in a couple of years! 😺
My favorite outlets (although so many have closed.)

My grandfather was a master craftsman of woodworking. We have beautiful pieces he built. He even made a three legged chair.
How wonderful to have treasures made by your Grandfather Shali! ✨♥️
Yes, it's nice. Wish I still had my grandfather, but having things he made with his own hands is special! How you been Joy?
