This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.

It case anyone is curious. Burning the U.S Flag. Even in protest. Only became ‘Protected Speech’ in 1989 when the Supreme Court ruled 5-4.
Even then public backlash was intense enough that in 1990 Congress actually tried to outlaw it. But it was overturned again in a 5-4 ruling.
So it’s not even like it was a landslide legal victory. Some sacred founding principle. Nor was it some sacred Legal Precedent from 1800. And public support wasn’t behind it to such extent Congress was motivated enough to actually pass a law.
