To be honest, people said the same exact thing when comet Hail Bop came around. People were screaming, "it's end time!!". I remember people losing their ever loving shit over it.
True, I've lived long enough to have seen this play out several times in the past few decades. But to the OP's point about "is this the rapture?" .... I don't think so. God exists outside of space and time as we know it, and can manifest immediately wherever and whenever He pleases. God would not need an interstellar device to travel over vast expanses of space, He just manifests. End of story.
It is the end times. 100 years is just a blip of eternity.
