Where does this money really end up?
Likely part of the direct payment to the actors involved. They likely get an initial down payment + payment on completion. If their performance (or their payment solicitation on GSG) are especially compelling, the crowdfunded portion would include a bonus. If they're already lying, why wouldn't they wrap it up with an appeal for public money?
Some of those were set up on the same day as the incident. Who thinks of fundraising during the first few hours after a tragedy? Seems like most people would be in shock and trying to figure out what happened.
