I see nothing wrong with this. It's their property.
But i think people will be upset to find out it was just virtue signalling, if they really take it to mean it's a 'safe space'. If some stranger knocks on their door saying they need a safe space for the night, I think they'll say "No".

Same here! I see nothing wrong with this. It's your driveway, do as you please.
And I hope nothing I said indicated otherwise.
I posted mainly to point out that IMO it's not wise to advertise your home as a safe space which a criminal could interrupt as a Gun Free Zone.
