He was inspired by God. He knew what he was writing. And how many prophets spoke of false teachers and false idols? Zionist Israel isn't a new thing

He couldn’t have had a clue about what he was writing. There was no Israel at that time. His prophecy of the whole world coming against Israel could not have made sense to him. The prophecy of 2/3rds of Israel being wiped out in the “day of the Lord” probably shook him up and as with many other of the prophets wrote, there is no way they could understand what they were writing.
