Wildfires destroyed historic buildings in California this week as Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) was out of the state on personal travel -- again.

The lightning in the Sierras last night was practically continuous over about a half hour. We set out chairs in the backyard to watch. Some of the flashes turned loop -de- loops. It was quite a show.
