is this a good time to once again point out the shared etymology of "democrat" and "demon"?
most dictionaries will only trace the roots back to the greek, obscuring the connection.
but if you dig a little deeper, you'll find they come from the same word in proto-indo-european.
the word is "deh", meaning "to divide".
confirm on wiktionary, or etymonline.
this means that, theoretically, if there were words for either "rule by division", or "rule by demons", both of those words would be "democracy".
probably just a coincidence tho
