Felon is a stigmatized word. People can change. I don't do anything illegal anymore. No drinking. No drugs. Plenty of friends that are not criminals. Many people I know that are older than me tell me on a regular basis that I'm the smartest person they know. When I was younger I did stupid stuff because I didn't know how to be bored.
Some felonies are terrible though. Like anything assault or theft related.
I was once married to a felon. He was a Navy Seal, so the government kind of had to issue him guns for his job lol.
