Asking because it makes no sense to me. The only reason I can come up with is because our government has zero control over our money.

You are correct. The govt has very little control
The FED is privately owned and is for making a profit.
This is why I say,END THE FED.
the federal reserve isn't federal and there is no reserve.

I already understood this. My question remains. The obvious person will be tempted to say because the president cannot fire people from private companies.
Can someone explain why Jerome Powell is able to keep his job despite many powerful as well as normal people being onto the charade?
They have control of the money,that's a lot of power in DC.
Congress doesn't have the balls to fuk with them. The last guy who tried was shot in the head,down in Texas....

Well they tried doing it to Trump too but they missed.
They are too fond of the exploding head shot. In the case of Trump I'm sure he also had a lot of body armor. But they still wanted it on film.
