On top of the demographic collapse, Japan's economy is in bad shape. They import more than they produce - mostly because of energy needs. Most of their bonds are held by Japanese banks with little foreign investment. The aging population will put even more stress on services going forward while younger contributors are declining fast. Things are not looking good for Japan.
