IF this was a foreign hit job, this would easily explain how the assassin got away.
edit - FBI needs to determine who owns that plane, why it left at that specific time & why it wasn't tracked. Maybe with the mountains it can't track it in a lower altitude flight, buy why allow that much resistance with a jet? Not an expert, just tossing out ideas.
