I think that if Charlie hadn't been wearing a bullet proof vest, his wound would have been non-fatal. I saw a graphic of the shooter's position. It was head-on to Charlie. I had thought he was off to the side because it looked like the bullet hit the top of his vest and continued on to his neck. But, being head-on, the bullet hit in the clavicle area then the spall went to his neck. Without the vest he probably would have had only a shoulder wound. Don't get me wrong. I don't blame him for wearing a vest at all. I certainly would have. Just ironic.

He was not wearing a vest, I have several vest, and even the most concealable vest is hard to hide under a plane T-shirt like Charlie was wearing, there are a few pictures that are clear enough that you can see his nipple in printing on the shirt. Even the most concealed vest I have when you wear a T-shirt and you are sitting it will imprint around the shoulder area. Also, bullets don’t just deflect up like that after hitting a plate. The thinnest and most concealable vest is soft armor and would not have produced any spalling, the Bullet would have zipped right through it.

Now, if later, it comes out that he was 100% wearing body armor then I will eat my words and order that exact same armor the very next day, but no armor that I know of especially armor that will accept plates is going to be that concealable underneath a T-shirt like that, especially while sitting down because your lower body tends to push up slightly on a vest, and it will imprint around the shoulder area, I have several different set ups.

The more I watch in slow motion, the more questions I have. I remain open to the idea that he had a vest on simply due to the fact that I see no evidence of an exit wound which a 30-06 would absolutely make. I have found photos of his T shirt clearly showing his nipples imprinted on it, but there actually are small plates that would explain his nipples not being covered. However, if he was wearing a plate like that then I don’t see it likely that the round would have deflected up into his neck simply because it would not have been a straight up trajectory but an up and to the right trajectory. Given the size of that entrance wound though I’m starting to think that it was not a direct hit, that thing was bigger than any 30-06 or 308 entrance wound I’ve ever seen on live game. On this one I remain open to anything at this point until more info comes out (if it comes out).

That was literally just his shirt responding to a bullet hitting his body going somewhere close to 2800 fps dumping around 3,000 ft lbs of energy on target in a split second. No vest he would have been wearing even if he was wearing one would be concealable enough to not see printing under that T shirt if it had plates in it period. If he was wearing concealable soft armor the bullet would have zipped right through anyways.
