This is exactly why I haven't attended a physical church since childhood. I don't trust those who stand 3 feet above me, telling me what the Bible says. I do fellowship at work but it's random. I just have to continue to visit them until I feel right about it (with help from our Holy Spirit)
My pastor, when he was in a physical building, always put his Bible and notes on the front pew for this very reason. He didn’t like the elevation and podium look. He also allowed parishioners to raise their hands if they had a question. He says there is no sense going forward because they’ll be left at the sticking point. No he does church via Skype.
