A mental illness that denies the legitimacy of the physical body, that turns it into an abstraction separated from the self, and offers vicious bodily mutilation as a remedy, is naturally going to deny the sacredness of the physical body for others.

This removes a major psychological barrier on the path from violent ideation to actual violence that otherwise would stop people who don’t have this particular mental illness.
