The plea deal discussed there was the one that fell apart when the judge (Noreika) got suspicious, after IRS whistleblowers came out.
To the judge, the deal wasn't standard and essentially asked Hunter if the text clearly details what had been offered to him (I can't recall the wording, but basically getting at whether the DOJ was giving him broad immunity).

They split out the tax charges and sent it over to California. The other charges were in Delaware.
