Yeah, to Mr_A’s note on Terrain Theory/Detox, it could also be a hook to help the pharmakeia to settle deeper into the affected tissues.

Totally a possibility, and it might be true that it’s both - to help accrue more toxins for more future sickness, and to do so by reducing inflammation in the present so that more can be accumulated.
