I connected his bilateral meeting to this post, as he mentions grocery prices coming down. I know gas prices are fluctuating in Maryland from $2.86 to $3.19 per gallon. I know states tax gasoline. I am not sure what is going on with insurance prices-I get nothing more-but the price has gone up extremely high, and I don't know why. Does anyone here know? I have called my insurance agent and they keep taking things away (like lessening my coverage, charging me less but the coverage is much worse) from the insurance policy but the price goes down a little!.
My daughter is in the middle of an insurance fraud issue.
She lives in a capital city and her hookup to sewer was recently redone done with pvc instead of typical cast iron piping. She bought this house about 4 years ago. I thought it was a flip house immediately when I saw it. But she is almost 30 and I use my filter. A couple years ago not knowing about the PVC she had a backup. She was told it was roots from a bush in her front yard. They ground out the roots and moved on. In preparation for this happening again, when she changed her insurance to State Farm her salesman sold her a policy that covered this problem up to $10k.
So time moves on and sure enough it happens again. This time the plumber told her it was a pvc pipe and that the pipe was breaking down. The plan was to dig it all up, sidewalk included and replace the pvc from the house to the road.
She calls and the insurance company says that once a pipe is 50 years old they don’t cover anything over $2,500. She knows pvc isn’t 50years old so she calls the township about permits that have been pulled. None. She calls the water dept, electric suppliers cable and internet providers. Nothing.
So she is on the hook for (the lowest bid) of $4,600. However, that doesn’t cover to the road, just to the sidewalk. I say it’s insurance fraud and have encouraged her to contact her congress man.
She did what we are all told. What she was supposed to do. She paid the first time and got the right level of insurance to protect her. Now they wasn’t to screw her. I’m mad. State Farm collected that payment for 2-3 years. She paid extra for the coverage because she didn’t have it the first time and she had to pay to roto router the roots out of the pipe. Common sense, but she still does get protection. Insurance is a Ponzi scheme.
I have more personal experience where AAA tried to disallow a claim when my house flooded and they said they only cover for water coming in from outside.
Sad news. I hope your daughter makes out. Insurance and the costs are terrible. They budget enormous amounts for advertisement and we pay the freight- no solace, just thought I'd mention it.

She shouldnt have to pay for anything that is before the meter. All the plumbing after the meter is typically what the homeowner is responsible for.

Thank you. I think if we knew all the crap pulled by these companies we would revolt. Just my opinion but I feel it just another tax.
Could very well be just another tax. Whatever is going on, it needs to stop soon (at least I think so).
