Florida Open Carry Law Starts Sept. 25 | Sheriff Urges Caution Over Legal Confusion

Florida’s new open carry law goes into effect on September 25, but law enforcement officials are warning residents not to misinterpret what that means.
In this segment, a Florida sheriff breaks down the restrictions still in place --- including schools, courthouses, and government buildings — despite the new law allowing open carry. While the sheriff supports the Second Amendment, he argues concealed carry provides a safer, tactical advantage and avoids unnecessary legal risk.
He urges gun owners to default back to concealed carry rules, especially until the legislature can clarify the law’s gray areas. The message: just because open carry is legal doesn’t mean it’s allowed everywhere.
This is going to be another nothing burger. The fear Police always show there head when these changes are made but people will get used to it just like everywhere else. Police carry in the open as a deterrent and it isnt a big deal because people are conditioned to seeing a gun. I personally will still conceal because I consider it to my advantage if the bad guy shows up
Wouldn't open carry make you a target for gun thieves & other opportunists?
If I open carried it would be in a level III holster. But yes people see what you have and can take advantage of you that way. I would like to hedge the bet in my direction with CC.
Camping, hiking, fishing, hunting etc. should be ok jmo
