Ronnie James Dio is the expert. Nobody threw out more pinky / index than Ronnie, so what say he ? He was not a devil worshiper.

Dio toured the entire world a dozen times at least in front of no less than 1 Billion people.

I saw the Dio biography not long ago. He said he got that hand gesture from his Grandma who used it to ward off the evil eye.

I've never thought of it as anything nefarious. It's just a "rock on" to me. This just a funny meme is all. Based on some wacky comments about it being satanic or some crap.
I've made comments in other threads how it's not a satanic gesture. I find the idea of that rather silly.
Satanic Panic weirdos were a nasty bunch that would add fantasy and perversity to any and all free speech in the metal genre. They do it with lots of things that reek of freedom.
