I was already born into the 9 to 5 world. but being in this system of working 9-5, 5 days, 40 hours seems incredibly suffocating for me. Especially in 2025, a 9 to 5 just means you're a company slave, with shit wages so youre barely surviving, and youre barely even at home as well. Sleep deprived and no time to run errands, see friends or family, or even run errands. 9 to 5's seem like they used to be rewarding and pay well, but these days it's just to barely even survive. And almost every 9 to 5 person I know hates their job. Must be a deep state concept

I'm not sure my overall average, but even with employment gaps for various reasons, I'm sure I'm over 60 hours a week. This is either my 46th or 47th year paying into SS and I had a few cash jobs as a teen. I worked 7 days a week for years. From the end of 91 until mid-95 I worked 64 hours a week and often picked up extra hours so I was working 88. At the start of the 64 hour job I worked a second job of 40 hours, 104 hours a week for 3 months straight.
So 46th or 47th year and I had several multi-year gaps, how's the math work on that? I had my first real job at 14 and I'm now 67. Note: I lived on my own resources except 2 months of Unemployment.
If we don't get our work done on time, they punish us with 12 hour days.
My sister had a friend long ago who worked for Albertsons and the stockboys had a quota. They got in trouble making them punch out then work until quota was met.
They punish us with thousands of extra dollars. It gets old,I've been avoiding as much overtime as I can lately.
